The Families and Workers Fund’s 2023 Annual Report highlights $14.5 million in new grantmaking, impacting more than 4.5 million people to date.
June 18, 2024 – Announcement
The Families and Workers Fund has completed our fourth year as a pooled fund working to help build a more equitable economy that uplifts all. Our 2023 Annual Report uplifts our impacts to date; we have deployed $45 million to grantees and strategic partnerships and have already surpassed our initial target of leveraging at least $1 billion in external funding. Alongside our partners, we are working toward our goals of lifting hundreds of thousands of diverse, low-wage workers into economic mobility-boosting jobs and improving public benefits delivery to help establish and guarantee economic security for all.
In 2023, we publicly launched the Powering Climate and Infrastructure Careers Initiative, part of our Recover Up: Jobs that Sustain and Uplift impact area. This pooled funding initiative will deploy up to $50 million to help tackle workforce implementation challenges and connect people in underinvested communities — especially women, rural and low-income communities, and people facing racial inequities — to uplifting careers in clean energy, construction, and the economy of the future.
As part of our 21st Century Benefits impact area, the Fund also developed the strategy for its new Benefits Access and Equity Initiative to improve effective delivery of poverty-reducing benefits and help guarantee basic economic security for every person and family in this country. The initiative will invest in new technologies, support increased government delivery capacity, and help to coordinate the ecosystem to create and align around a shared vision.
